G-Man Goes To Washington

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I wish I was in the land of cotton! – Well, not on a permanent basis, but I did have a great initial visit to Oxford, Mississippi for the Ole Miss/Florida game. The result was not good for Andy Kennedy and the home team as the loss probably ended their tournament dream. It was great to reconnect with him. I believe Kennedy will get the job done there and he was very proud of their brand new practice facility which should drive recruiting success. Had a great time touring Oxford inTim Brando’s tricked out van. ( It puts the Griswold’s ride to shame- check it out on G Tube!) Had an awesome time after the game. Got the inside tour at William Faulkner’s house named Rowan Oak. Saw the phone where he accepted the call informing him of his Nobel Prize for Literature! Then went to The Library for a libation (Thanks, Dess, for the hospitality!) and then on to Taylor Grocery for the best catfish on the planet. Timmy B tried to eat his body weight in fried catfish!

Then it was on to Durham for the Virginia Tech game.My day started at 5:30am in Oxford, taking a car to Memphis to catch a delayed flight to Durham, arriving at the hotel at 2:00pm, doing the game and finally driving my rental back to Charlotte afterwards and collapsing in bed at 12:30 am!!Long day, long sentence- must be channeling Faulkner! Duke’s offense was on ice for 30 minutes but Singler and Smith came alive in the end to give Duke the win. I must admit that I get spoiled by the atmosphere in Cameron- the crowd understood the importance of the game and were in full throat.

And the Silver medal goes to… I don’t agree with Carolina’s decision to don silver uniforms and shoes for their game against FSU. I completely understand the celebration of 100 years of Carolina basketball but disagree with the celebration of an anniversary of a shoe brand. Why provide more ammo in a season gone sideways? The marketing and celebration of a shoe should have been handled by Nike.

G-man goes to Washington- While I’m not Mr. Smith, I will be calling the Notre Dame/ Georgetown game this Saturday @ Noon on CBS in our nation’s capitol. Mike Brey must absorb the loss of All-American candidate Luke Harangody and his 25 point average. They are coming off a very impressive home win against Pitt on Wednesday. They must be patient in defending Georgetown’s offense and not give up easy baskets. John Thompson III has done a terrific job with the Hoya’s and figures to get them back to the NCAA tournament after missing last year. They are a year older and a much more mature team. They like to feed off their crowd and are not afraid to play uptempo. The offense goes through center Greg Monroe and guards Chris Wright and Austin Freeman are very explosive. This game will have serious tournament implications for both teams.

Sunday Night Hoops- Speaking of serious tournament implications, Clemson @ FSU will be critical to both. Clemson has been shooting the 3 better lately, but have to prove to the selection committee they can win on the road. The Tiger’s are 1-5 in conference away from Littlejohn and desperately need a quality ACC road win.Trevor Booker is having an all league season but the key is the health of Demontez Stitt. Their record with him healthy is dramatically better than when he is sub-par. The Noles solidified a spot in the Big Dance with a win at Carolina on Wednesday. They are now 20-7 overall and 9-5 in the ACC. Barring a total collapse, they should be a part of March Madness. Look for Chris Singleton and Soloman Alibi to vie for Defensive player of the year. The insertion of Michael Snaer into the starting lineup has given them a boost.Should be a very intense game between two defensive-minded teams!

ACC Tournament Projections–02/26/10

This year’s ACC Tournament could be as vital as it has been in recent history to NCAA Tourney bids…here’s how I project the seeds right now. For the next couple weeks, I’ll have the post-weekend edition on OTB and over at Raycom after the mid-week games.

I’ve been crunching numbers, breaking down schedules, looking at tiebreakers, and flipping coins. Here’s how I project the ACC season to finish…

2) Maryland vs. 7) Clemson/10) Miami

3) Florida State vs. 6) Georgia Tech/11) North Carolina

4) Virginia Tech vs. 5) Wake Forest/12) NC State

Projection Quirks/Commentary

> First off, thanks to a reader of the blog for setting me straight on the tourney pairings–I was looking at the tiebreakers so much I didn’t lock in the pairings at 1 vs. 8/9, 2 vs. 7/10, 3 vs. 6/11, and 4 vs. 5/12.

> On to the changes, FSU moves up into the top seeds all the way to the third seed as they win out now. Maryland went up two wins also to get to the 2nd seed. The Deacs slide out of the top seeds by losing a tiebreaker to VT. Clemson slips back to 8-8 instead of 9-7 from my projections at OTB. And BC moves up to 6-10, but lose out to UVA who maybe–just maybe will rise up and play something close to how they had when they were winning games.

> On the tiebreakers, I was going off from the ACC official site page on them.

> The Georgia Tech/Clemson tie-break came-down to their record against Duke in which the Jackets went 1-1 and Clemson 0-2 as each team’s record against the top team in the standings(Duke) is the rule here when they split the series.

> Virginia Tech and Virginia advance on head-to-head records vs. Wake and BC respectively.

Tourney Talk

> FSU has a mixed draw as they swept the Jackets/Heels, but the potential second round opponent–Maryland–swept them. A Wake/Virginia Tech quarter will be a dog-fight–which helps Duke in the semis. I’ll go with the top seeds advancing right now with the Blue Devils taking it.

Looking to tweak this after each series of games—your input is encouraged. What team will perform better than projected? Who will be worse? Who do you like in the matchups to win the ACC Tourney right now?

Raycom ACC Power Poll Ballot–02/23/10

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Duke stays atop the ACC while a couple of ACC teams rise from the middle in Clemson and FSU–and UNC in last?!

David Tucker over at the Maryland Raycom Blog has been compiling a poll of the ACC blogs for an ACC Basketball Power Poll, and here’s my ballot with semi-insightful commentary. The ACC Tourney projections will be up Tuesday on my site at On The B.Rink.

1) Duke Blue Devils

The Devils swept the week with a closer than expected duel in Miami and a hotly contested game with the Hokies. They play one non-conference game with Tulsa and at Virginia on Sunday. If Duke can win-out, the ACC Tournament will be playing for a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament.

2) Maryland Terrapins

Terps escaped with the Cliff Tucker buzzer-beater over Georgia Tech and took-down the Pack in a much less exciting game. Maryland has the toughest week of anybody in the ACC coming up with a hot Clemson team coming to Comcast and the trip to Blacksburg where Virginia Tech has not lost yet.

3) Virginia Tech Hokies

Hokies had a trying week with beating the Deacs and losing a tough one at Duke. Hokies travel to BC before another big one against the Terps to get back in second place.

4) Wake Forest Demon Deacons

The Deacs are free-falling at the moment after a close road loss at Virginia Tech and an inexplicable 68-54 loss at NC State. The road was not kind to Wake’s key freshman contributors C.J. Harris and Ari Stewart who scored a combined 11 points in the games(Harris 7 in VT, 0 in NCSU; Stewart 2 at VT, 2 at NCSU). The Demon Deacons only have one game this week with the struggling Heels coming to Winston-Salem.

5) Florida State Seminoles

The ‘Noles announced their presence as a contender for one of the top four ACC seeds with a 69-50 win to crush UVA’s fleeting chance at an NCAA bid. FSU travels to Chapel Hill to take on the Heels and return to face Clemson on Sunday.

6) Clemson Tigers

The Tigers took what FSU started and continued the ‘Hoo-bashing with a 72-49 blowout win. Clemson got the necessary 3-game home-stretch sweep and look strong going into the rest of their schedule. They take on Maryland in what should be an excellent game on Raycom on Wednesday at 9 and Florida State also on the road on Sunday.

7) Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

After losing by last second shot to Maryland, Georgia Tech has to take 2 of their final 3 ACC games to stay in the NCAAs talk.  BC kicks off the stretch at home on Saturday before making the trip up I-85 to Clemson in March, and finally a home match with Virginia Tech.

8] Virginia Cavaliers

It was ugly–the entire week–u-g-l-y. The ‘Hoos lost by an average of over 20 points to Maryland, Florida State, and Clemson. The Cavaliers try to end the 5 game losing streak in Miami before coming home to attempt to knock off the Blue Devils.

9) Boston College Eagles

The Eagles defeated the Tar Heels 71-67 giving the Eagles a little separation from the back of the pack in the ACC. The Hokies come to town on Wednesday and travel to Georgia Tech later in the week.

10) Miami Hurricanes

Miami still has the weirdest contrast of overall to ACC records with the 17-9 overall and 3-9 ACC after dropping the Duke contest 81-74. Miami had the lead at the half, but as has been constant this conference season, the Canes could only keep the effort up for one half.

11) NC State Wolfpack

NC State pulled off the big home win over the Demon Deacons on Saturday after a decent effort in the loss against Maryland. The ‘Pack take the mid-week off before the trip to Miami this weekend.

12) North Carolina Tar Heels

Can’t say I saw this coming this season–UNC being last in late February in the ACC. UNC and NC State are 1 and 1a right now for worst so I gave the ‘Pack the nod with the big win over Wake Forest. UNC will most likely finish 15-16 and not even be eligible for the NIT–it’s remarkable with the talent on that team that the Heels sunk this far in a year coming off the NCAA title. FSU comes to the Dean Dome and the Heels make the short trip to Winston-Salem later on in the week.

Duke has a lock on the ACC now, but everything else is up for grabs. Are you feeling 7 bids for the ACC in the NCAAs? 6? 5?

Projection Quirks/Commentary

> After the mid-week games, a  number of shifts with wins/losses occurred among the teams. Virginia Tech and Florida State gained one more projected win(VT to 11-5, FSU to 10-6) while Virginia and North Carolina took steps backward(UVA to 7-9, UNC to 4-12).

> On the tiebreakers, I was going off from the ACC official site page on them. Which say…

> On the 3 team tiebreaker, all of the head-to-head records between the 3 teams are combined for each school to get the best winning percentage. The top seeds are effected this time around with Virginia Tech going 2-0, Wake Forest 1-1, and Maryland 0-2.

> In our first instance of the two team tie with a series split, the Georgia Tech/Clemson tie-break came-down to their record against Duke in which the Jackets went 1-1 and Clemson 0-2 as each team’s record against the top team in the standings(Duke) is the rule here.

> In the exact opposite scenario, BC swept the Canes to get the 9th seed over Miami.

> Virginia Tech emerges as the big winner in this round by catapulting to the 2nd seed and with beating every team in their bracket with the exception of Georgia Tech. Duke’s prospects have not gotten any easier for winning the tournament with their matchups. The strengths of the divisions have evened out and 6-7 teams could win it.

Looking to tweak this after each series of games—your input is encouraged. What team will perform better than projected? Who will be worse? Who do you like in the matchups to win the ACC Tourney right now?

Projection Quirks/Commentary

> The big change is Florida State’s move from 8-8 to 9-7. While their win over BC was not overly-impressive, they pull off one of their road games down the stretch now to get the extra win.

> BC falls back in the pack with one more ACC loss also, which lends to more tiebreaker fun below…

> On the tiebreakers, I was going off from the ACC official site page on them. Which say…

> On the 3 team tiebreaker, all of the head-to-head records between the 3 teams are combined for each school to get the best winning percentage. This time around—we have two instances of this. I’m projecting Clemson to go 2-1, Virginia 1-1, and Georgia Tech 1-2, which decides the seeds after Florida State. In the next tiebreaker, I have UNC going 2-0, BC 2-1, and Miami 0-3 for seeds 9-11.

> Wake over Maryland is much simpler–just head-to-head which already happened earlier this season.

> The Wake Forest vs. Clemson/Miami pairing only survived the changes. Duke now has its worst nightmare inside their bracket with a strong Florida State, NC State who broke them down earlier this season, Virginia Tech who have the horses to take them down, Georgia Tech who beat them already this season, and rival UNC wanting another shot—and that’s before the ACC Championship. Wake Forest and Maryland should be in the ACC semis on the other side—winner will face a tested, but possibly tired, opponent.

Looking to tweak this after each series of games—your input is encouraged. What team will perform better than projected? Who will be worse? Who do you like in the matchups to win the ACC Tourney right now?

Raycom ACC Power Poll Ballot–02/16/10

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Another week and a little more separation between the haves and have-nots among the NCAA Tourney teams…

David Tucker over at the Maryland Raycom Blog has been compiling a poll of the ACC blogs for an ACC Basketball Power Poll, and here’s my ballot with semi-insightful commentary.

1) Duke Blue Devils

The Blue Devils passed the test of being the ACC’s best by taking down the Heels on the road and Terps at home with ease. Center Brian Zoubek put up a surprising 16 points and 17 rebounds against the Terps–if he keeps this up, the Devils are going to be a force down the stretch. Duke is only a game ahead of the Deacs still with a trip to Miami and Virginia Tech in Durham on the weekend.

2) Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Wake Forest notched wins at home against Boston College and Georgia Tech to stay within a game of the Blue Devils. The Deacs travel to Virginia Tech and NC State–the Hokies are coming fast on the Demon Deacons which makes this week’s Duke vs. VT and Wake vs. VT games really interesting.

3) Virginia Tech Hokies

Hard to argue that another team is playing better than the Hokies right now after four straight wins including the blitzing of NC State on the road and battling out a home win over rival Virginia. The Hokies have two crucial games this week as they can take the reins of the ACC with a sweep of the Deacs and Devils–very possible they can lose both too–most likely scenario is the split with a win over Wake and loss at Duke.

4) Maryland Terrapins

Terps went 6-2 in January and have started 2-1 in February with one game being played after this particular ballot went in with Virginia played on Monday. The blowout loss at Duke knocked them down two spots in my ballot more for the loss + the Deacs/Hokies performances–I expected the loss though. Maryland has a challenging and rare 3 game week with UVA, @NC State, and at home with Georgia Tech.

5) Florida State Seminoles

The ‘Noles lost at Clemson and played an excellent second half to blowout the Eagles at home–putting FSU among the top 6 ACC teams with an above .500 ACC record. Two challenging road games to come this week as they go to Charlottesville to take on the Cavaliers and down to Chapel Hill for a game with the up-and-down Heels. A sweep/split and the Noles are looking great going into March–two losses and the bubble edges to burst status.

6) Clemson Tigers

The Tigers got the crucial sweep of the Florida ACC teams with the 10 point win over FSU and 8 point win over the Canes. Clemson’s quest to keep off the bubble continues with their one game this week against the weary Wahoos of Virginia who will be playing their 4th game in 7 days.

7) Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The Jackets continued their struggles with losses to Miami and Wake Forest. At 5-6 in conference and five games to go, Georgia Tech might need 4 more ACC wins for NCAA bid security or 3 with a couple of ACC Tournament wins. Their shot at hitting that mark begins with UNC at home and a trip to Maryland later in the week.

8. Virginia Cavaliers

After the quick start in the ACC, the ‘Hoos are 1-2 in February with 3 tough games this week–Virginia needs 10-6 for serious consideration to make it into the NCAAs with a couple ACC Tournament wins. Starting Monday, they travel to Maryland, face FSU at home, and go on the road to Clemson.

9) North Carolina Tar Heels

The Heels successfully kept out of last place in the ACC against NC State with a blowout win despite losing Ed Davis for the season earlier in the week. Staying out of last and above .500 are the realistic goals left for the Tar Heels though a long-shot chance remains for the NCAAs. On the road, UNC faces Georgia Tech and Boston College this week.

10) Boston College Eagles

The 15-point loss at Florida State broke a streak of 7 games where BC won twice and lost close games for the rest. At 12-13(3-8 ACC), it will be interesting if Coach Skinner can hold on to the team’s attention down the stretch with this week’s game being both at home versus North Carolina and Virginia Tech.

11) Miami Hurricanes

The Canes put together a couple of strong efforts with a win over the bubble-y Jackets and a loss at Clemson. Miami is the anti-BC as they are still 9 games over .500 despite the 8 losses(all in ACC play). Ultimately, Miami’s 17-8 will do nothing for them with their strength of schedule/RPI–they have to win the ACC Tournament. The Canes have the mid-week off to face the Blue Devils on the weekend.

12) NC State Wolfpack

Dead last, meet the Wolfpack. (/HerbSendekReferenceCommenceNowAmIRight?) The ACC is a meat-grinder, but not quite as much this season, NC State has to be better than 2-9 in the ACC–no excuse can pardon how the wheels have come off in Raliegh. Where NC State goes from here is all a matter of the amount of faith in Lowe–the talent is there–if they really believe the team can gel and perform under Lowe, keep him–but if there is any doubt, the option is pretty clear.

We’ll have another ACC Tourney projection up today also so be sure to check it out! Any comments on the week in the ACC?

BATTLE OF THE BLUES

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

There was no question that there was incredible energy at the Smith Center last night. The crowd was as good as I’ve heard in a while, no doubt trying to help Carolina get a much needed victory. And it worked for 30 minutes. Duke then made a critical move necessitated by an injury to Lance Thomas. ( heard today from staff at Duke that it was a bad knee bruise- no structural damage). Coach K went small, putting Singler at the power forward, and that opened up shots and driving lanes for the Big 3. In the end, Duke had playmakers and UNC didn’t. A lack of perimeter scores and playmakers has been Carolina’s biggest flaw and it doesn’t figure to get better this year. It is amazing that UNC and NC St. will play this Saturday for last place in the conference!

” Mind if we dance with your dates?”- It is about time to start looking at the NCAA tournament field. Obviously Duke, Maryland and Wake Forest are solidly in at this point. Then there is a muddled group of 5 that follow them that are at or above .500. Clemson, Georgia Tech and FSU are all 5-5 in conference and 17-7 overeall. They all have good RPI and strength of schedule numbers. My sense is they all have to finish at least 8-8 in conference and that should be good enough for a tournament bid, but an ACC tournament win sure would help. Virginia sits at 5-3 in league play but only 14-7 overall. They have a very high RPI and, in the end, I think they will fade in the second half. It will be the coaching job of the century if they hang on and get a bid.The most interesting team is Virginia Tech. They are 6-3 in the league and 19-4 overall. However, they have a borderline RPI (64) and an abysmal strength of schedule(237). Because of these numbers, I think they need to finish 9-7 in league play with at least an ACC tournament win. Time for all to start shining up their resumes.

My games this weekend- Miami @ Clemson- Saturday @ Noon- This is another must win for the Tigers. They must start climbing over .500 and building some momentum toward March. A healthy Demontez Stitt will be a key for them and some support from the perimeter would certainly take some pressure off of Trevor Booker. Look for them to crank up the press against the Canes, who have not played well on the road and have a young backcourt. Dwayne Collins has to be dominant in the pait if the U can pull of the upset.

Boston College @ FSU – Sunday Night Hoops- The Seminoles are in the same spot as Clemson- This is a must win as they cannot afford a loss on their home court to a bottom tier team.Offense will be at a premium as neither team has made a scoreboard explode this year! They are a much bigger team than BC and must turn them over and score off their defense. BC is a tough team to blow out and have been playing better lately. Reggie Jackson must have a monster game( like Scott Wood earlier this year) for BC to have a chance.

Raycom ACC Power Poll Ballot–02/09/10

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

As the weeks progress, the more my optimism wanes for 7-8 NCAA Tourney bids as I was thinking back in December for the ACC. Duke is the leader and from the 6th spot on comes the bubble…

David Tucker over at the Maryland Raycom Blog has been compiling a poll of the ACC blogs for an ACC Basketball Power Poll, and here’s my ballot with semi-insightful commentary.

1) Duke Blue Devils

The Blue Devils swept their two games this week with a blowout of Georgia Tech and close road win at Boston College. Duke faces two huge games this week with North Carolina on Wednesday at Chapel Hill on Raycom at 9–and the next team on my ballot at home on Saturday at 1.

2) Maryland Terrapins

Maryland pulled out a road win at Florida State and pounded North Carolina at home by 21 to get to number two in the poll. The Terps, like Georgia Tech last week, get their shot at number one with facing Duke on Saturday.

3) Wake Forest Demon Deacons

The Deacs also swept their games this week as they beat Miami at home and won a fourth OT game this season on the road at Virginia 64-61. Home games with Boston College and Georgia Tech await the Demon Deacons this week.

4) Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Jackets had a mixed week with a loss at Georgia Tech and a win over NC State at home, but were not impressive in the win defensively. They will have to improve on the road with games at Miami and Wake Forest.

5) Florida State Seminoles

The ‘Noles split their two game home-stand with a win over Miami and defeat at the hands of the Terps. FSU could bolster their NCAA Tourney resume with a win at Clemson and taking care of business at home against BC later in the week.

6) Virginia Tech Hokies

Virginia Tech notched two important home victories this week against North Carolina and Clemson to elevate their stature in the ACC and overall. Hokies face the Wolfpack on the road on Wednesday before a home date with the ‘Hoos for the rivalry sweep.

7) Virginia Cavaliers

The ‘Hoos split their home slate last week with a W over NC State and OT loss vs. Wake Forest. As with any ACC bubble team, a home ACC loss means that every game down the stretch is crucial as they will need to pull off 2-3 ACC road wins and take every home game while winning an ACC Tourney game or two to get back into the NCAAs picture.

8 ) Clemson Tigers

Tigers only game last week was an ugly loss on the road at Virginia Tech. As I wrote about in my last post, Clemson faces two home games this week with Florida State and Miami that are must-wins.

9) North Carolina Tar Heels

Unless you have been under a rock, you know of the Tar Heels’ struggles. ACC road games are tough–especially at Maryland and Virginia Tech, but UNC is clearly lacking a gear to get into to be a NCAA Tournament squad–shocking as many pundits including me had them at the top of their ACC preseason ballot. Heels have a shot to play the unfamiliar spoiler role with their home date with Duke on Wednesday which is possible if UNC plays its most energetic lineup with Dexter Strickland in it, but I think the Blue Devils prevail regardless.

10) NC State Wolfpack

If the Wolfpack played the entire game like they did the last 3 minutes of the Georgia Tech matchup–they could have pulled out a big ACC road win, but they came close and lost again. After the other loss to UVA also this week, NC State is at a 2-7 in the ACC after dropping four straight ACC games.

11) Boston College Eagles

The Eagles have certainly improved in their last five games where they have won twice and lost by 1, 3, and 4–the last loss being by 3 to Duke at home. We will see if BC can keep it together after the close losses lately with road games at Wake Forest and Florida State.

12) Miami Hurricanes

The Canes continued their horrendous ACC season as they dropped both of their games making it 7 out of their last 8 that they have lost. On the bright side, if there’s any time for a run–it’s now as Miami has 5 of its final 7 games at home down the stretch.

We are getting into that crucial time of the year for building the tourney resume–some ACC teams are looking at unfamiliar postseason tournaments without turnarounds.

Coming Off Loss, Tigers Face Season-Defining Home-Stretch

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

February 10: Florida State, 7:00.

February 13: Miami, 12:00.

February 20: Virginia, 4:00.

Those three games will determine the direction of Clemson’s season as they are 16-7(4-5 ACC) with 3 of their final 4 on the road.

The Tigers lost 70-59 to the Virginia Tech Hokies in a game that had little rhythm to it as the defenses and referees’ whistles reigned. Clemson forward Trevor Booker only played 23 minutes due to foul trouble and added just 7 points and 4 rebounds. Tigers forward David Potter led the team in scoring with 11 points including three 3-pointers. Clemson would shoot 7 for 25 from the perimeter on the day and 19 for 62(30.6%) overall.

There were some positives out of the loss as Clemson out-rebounded the Hokies 42 to 31. Clemson forward Jerai Grant posted a third straight solid game as he had a double-double at 11 points and 15 rebounds. He has emerged as the secondary low-post option to Booker.

He and Booker are needed to step-up in this coming stretch of home games with Florida State on Wednesday, Miami later in the week, and Virginia in two weeks. FSU and Virginia have each notched two ACC road wins(FSU at BC, GT; UVA at NC State, UNC)–Miami has not been as fortunate and have struggled all ACC season so far. Clemson is 3-1 at home in ACC play with blowout wins over North Carolina and Boston College–also a more hard-fought victory against Maryland.

Clemson goes 3-0 in their home-stretch and they are at 19-7 and more importantly, 7-5 in conference–just one game away from the most likely NCAA Tournament bid securing the 8-8 ACC record they need with four games to go.

The pressure is on Clemson’s guard play down the stretch as senior guard Demontez Stitt is playing hurt(played 27 minutes against Virginia Tech with few results as he only scored 3 points). The Tigers’ inexperienced guard-play outside of Stitt hurt them against the Hokies as no one stepped-up with the underclassmen guards shooting 7 for 25 from the field and two of those were garbage-time 3-pointers.

The Tigers’ forwards are talented enough to carry them to wins in this home-stretch, but the home-court is usually kinder to shooters and it will have to be in each of these games so it all does not rest on Trevor Booker’s shoulders.

Clemson is just one of many ACC teams that will look to grind out every ACC victory they can to get an NCAA Tourney bid, but the ACC scheduling has given them a great opportunity to gain momentum into March.

I think the Tigers pull off the sweep, but the hardest of the three games is Wednesday with the ‘Noles coming off the big win over Miami.
